Babs McCullen-Welker, instructor and owner of Babs McDance Social Dance Studio, has been sharing her knowledge of and teaching the Wilmington community to dance since 1990. She had an immediate love for dancing from the start, as she engulfed herself in classical and modern dance as a youth, and continues to enjoy teaching a myriad of dances. Babs understands the importance of continuing to learn and incorporating sought—after dances into her students’ curriculum, and does so by studying under master instructors. She currently is focusing her instruction on social styles of dancing and some performances, such as student exhibitions, in a non-competitive environment. Babs and students of Babs McDance Social Dance Studio are quite involved in the Wilmington community, and have been delighted to participate in events with non-profit organizations and local festivals. Her goal as an instructor is “for every student to feel comfortable, no matter what the setting, and to enjoy dancing to whatever music happens to be playing.
